Autonomic nerve testing, also known as an autonomic reflex screen, evaluates how well the nerves that regulate involuntary bodily functions are working. The tests measure end-organ responses to controlled stimulation, rather than the nerves directly. A standard battery of non-invasive tests can assess how your body controls your heart rate, blood pressure, and sweating.

Testing is recommended for people with symptoms of autonomic neuropathy (dysautonomia), which can be caused by diseases like diabetes, autoimmune conditions, or Parkinson’s.
