About The Book

Throughout my life, I’ve discovered that our paths are shaped as much by our choices as by the unexpected opportunities that find us. My work as a neurologist and sleep specialist, passion for poetry and writing, and commitment to the DIL Foundation have all emerged from a single guiding principle: we can make the most significant difference when we blend science, creativity, and genuine care for others.

At the Arizona Institute of Neurology & Polysomnography, I strive to look beyond diagnoses, embracing a holistic approach to patient care. This out-of-the-box thinking led me to write ‘An Ounce of Prevention’, a book rooted in the belief that proactive healthcare can transform lives before illness has a chance to take hold.

Beyond the medical field, the DIL Foundation, founded in 2012, is my effort to uplift communities in Phoenix through low-cost healthcare, lifestyle counseling, and entrepreneurial education. Through leadership roles such as serving on the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners and presiding over the Arizona chapter of APPNA, I’ve aimed to amplify the voices of those who, like me, once sought guidance on their paths.

In these pages, I recount professional milestones and reflect on how service and creativity intersect with science. This memoir celebrates the large and small moments that have shaped my life’s work and the many individuals who have enriched it. Above all, I hope it reminds us that our foster connections define our legacy.
